fake smile

hearing my genuine laughter
i cant help but wonder
if that girl will ever make a full return.
she visits in glances
like short romances
and darkness i’ve seen
that she’ll never know.
she doesn’t know why she can’t stay
but she’s happy to come out and play.
she just hates that every time she leaves
the other girls grieve
because there’s no need for a fake smile
if you're the only one you see.
