nothing with you

I still think about you
when I look at my ceiling.
So I stopped looking.
You’ve left your mark
on a lot of things and
I’ve written about it before,
but it just occurred to me that
you affected something more.
Our conversations were electric,
leaving tingles on my skin.
Pondering the universe and
how the veil gets terribly thin.
Our goals in life and
all the places we plan to see.
Debating over many topics and
agreeing to disagree.
We taught each other precious things and
when it all came crashing down,
I lost my favorite person to talk to.
Now everyone seems boring and
I’d rather be alone than
stay on the phone
listening to nothing because
it’s not the same as nothing with you.
