though i did not break my own heart,
a choice of complacency disguised as rebellion
motivated my wounds to fester
since i couldn’t fathom being better off with you.

i never dared to search for peace without them
because time spent with you only ever hurt,
while life without them lost all worth.
so i pleaded justice when blaming you
but i am the culprit that never knew.
