ending

she was fire in the eyes of others.
with the ability to destroy
everything she touched
she was feared and avoided.
not a day passed where she was free
from the rumors that cut her deep
but her parents cut deeper
with no intention to free her
they clipped her wings
and leashed her.

to me, she was unsettled water.
barely holding on, but i’d hold on
for the both of us.
except when she was turbulent
i wasn’t allowed to hold her
since it was much too vulnerable
for her liking.
though it seemed she didn’t trust me
i still felt lucky to believe that one day
she might. except she didn’t.
thus fueling my resentment.
